Exporting to Japan: the checklist we use

Product protocols, sanitary registrations and the labelling mistakes that stop a container in Yokohama.
Japan is a premium and demanding market. Before closing a deal we check: that the product has a valid phytosanitary protocol with Mexico, that the packaging meets Japanese labelling rules, that the importer is registered and that the cold chain is documented end to end.
The Mexico–Japan Economic Partnership Agreement offers tariff preferences that many exporters miss because they do not know the corresponding certificate of origin.
With that list covered, a container from Manzanillo to Yokohama takes between 16 and 20 days.
